Obedience To God is keeping His commandments. You need not forget My (God’s) Laws (Proverbs 3:1-3) embed them in your heart.
We want to obey and listen to His Voice for direction and be willing to be a doer of His commands and not just a hearer. We must have complete trust in Him proper faith (Christ and the Cross) this is obtained by the Word of God which will teach you the way to be obedient. We must meditate (Bible says meditate on His Word day and night (Joshua 1:8) on His Word everyday first and above anything else in this world. When you are constant in His Word you begin to be of Him and obey His laws. You start acting and thinking what is the Word which is Jesus and the Cross. You then are being obedient with complete confidence having faith that you trust His Ways over your own. You will begin to growing more and more in His Ways walking into His righteousness leading you to live righteous. I know to obey God is a testing of my faith do I trust Him above anything else? This is done so many ways example when a problem arises will you go to Him first in prayer or will you go to friends, family etc.? , it could be will you give your last to someone in need and trusting Him to supply your needs?, will you allow pressure from someone to do something that would dishonor God and His ways? There is so many other ways that God tests our faith and will you be obedient when your faith is tested? When I struggle with obedience I remind myself what He asks of me is always for my good (Isaiah 55:8-9 for His thoughts are not my thoughts)and that He wants the best for me. I know sometimes obedience to God may not feel good example of this could be God may have not answered prayer of something you wanted, gave you someone you wanted in your life, took away something and you are told to not go back to it ( just like our earthly father (parent) has to discipline you at times in your life for the better for you and it probably didn’t feel good to have to listen/obey him but he did this for your good well this is how our heavenly father is too!) at that time I trust it’s my loving Heavenly Father saving and protecting me from my own will which our flesh leads to destruction. When you begin to realize just how much He continuously loves you (I urge you to sit with Him and find out… not just know of Him but really KNOW that you KNOW just who He is the Great I AM and the immeasurable Love He has for you I promise you it will forever change your life! (John 14:15 Jesus says “If you love me you will obey what I command”)no matter how imperfect you are you become more obedient and you grow closer in relationship with Him.
Jesus was the only human that walked perfect in God’s Will and was perfect in obedience. Although we will never be perfect as Our Lord we must continuously try to be in God’s will and part of that is being obedient. When we walk more in a obedient life remember read the Word open the Bible ask God what is obedience in your life with Him look like and start one day at a time. Don’t worry if you have sinned that you are a sinner God knows this about you and knows you are not perfect or will ever be but yet with His great Love He showed by giving His Only Son Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior to die on the Cross for you to pay for your sins. Once you have the real knowledge of who your Lord is and what He did on the Cross means for your life you begin to chase after Him and as you do your love grows into a deep connection with Him that being obedient becomes part of your walk with Him. You begin to see fruits the rewards and promises of being obedient to Him. There are many scriptures that talk about how Jesus sees one who is obedient and the promises he has for a faithful servant. Don’t think you can’t ever make mistakes and that you must walk in perfect obedience none of us can have it perfect without flaw or mistakes but as long as you intentionally try come willingly and don’t come to Him with law or by religion. God knows your heart He wants a close relationship with you have a trusting heart in Him because he cares for you and wants good for your life. I have added some scriptures (there are many other scriptures as well I just mention here a few) on obedience and rewards from the Lord of being obedient. Continuously pick your Bible up read it study it and constantly pray and praise the Lord and ask and seek what it is to be obedient to Him for your life.
